Glover Brings In Two New Loan Signings

Dean Glover got the board to allow him to bring in two new young players to help bolster the squad ahead of Saturdays fixture against Brighton, a must win game for Glover if he is to stand any chance of landing the managers post at the club. Chairman Bill Bratt said he allowed Glover to bring the lads in to help get the team out of the slump that has left them in 22nd position in League One, with a long hard relegation threatened season in prospect if the clubs fortunes don't change quickly. The two new lads are Adam Eckersley from Manchester United and Will Atkinson from Hull City.

Adam Eckersley

Adam is 22 years old and has been at Manchester United for three seasons now, and plays as a left back. He has had a successful run in the United youth set up, appearing in last seasons FA Youth Cup Final against Liverpool, and is at the Vale to gain valuable first team experience. Adam played at Vale Park when the Valiants met Man United in the 3-2 preseason win. He played six matches for Barnsley at the end of last season and spent most of 2006 on loan to Belgium side Royal Antwerp and Danish side Brondby. He has made one senior first team appearance for Man United in the League Cup against Barnet in 2005. Adam is initially on loan at Vale for one month.

Will Atkinson

Will is 19 years old and joins Port Vale for an initial one month loan from Hull City. He can play on either wing or just tucked in behind the front men. He has yet to make a first team appearance for Hull, and will be hoping this loan move will give him some first team experience.
Both players will be put straight into the squad for Saturdays visit of Brighton and will be hoping to make a good impression on the Vale fans.
